Razer, known for its gaming laptops and other peripherals, has teamed up with Fossil to launch the limited-edition Razer X Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch. The smartwatch runs Wear OS and is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Wear 4100+ platform.

The limited-edition smartwatch will come with three exclusive Razer watch faces and two interchangeable straps that help complete its gamer look.

A Gaming Version of the Fossil Gen 6

The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 is a rebranded version of Fossil’s Gen 6 smartwatch, which was launched in August last year, and carries the design aesthetics typically seen in Razer laptops and accessories to appeal to gamers.

The smartwatch features a 44mm stainless steel case with a 1.28-inch circular display and customizable dial and buttons on the right. The design is rated «swimproof» for up to 3ATM. Other specs include 8GB storage, 1GB RAM, and fast charging support that can charge the smartwatch from 0-80 percent in just over 30 minutes.

The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform, which Razer claims in its press release offers a 30 percent performance boost and brings improved user experience.

For health tracking, the watch features a new continuous heart rate tracking sensor with enhanced signal accuracy, SpO2 monitoring, sleep tracking, VO2 max, and more. There are other wellness features like guided breathing sessions and reminders for daily walks.

While the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will only be available in a Bluetooth-only configuration, it does feature a built-in microphone so you can use it to take calls and talk to Google Assistant.

Wear OS 3 Coming Later This Year

Disappointingly, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch will launch with Wear OS 2 out of the box. It is compatible with Wear OS 3 that’s scheduled to release later this year.

The smartwatch will be available globally from later this month for $329 on Fossil and Razer’s online stores and select retail stores. Since this is a limited-edition smartwatch, only 1,337 units will go up for sale.

A Smartwatch for Gamers

While there are quite a few smartwatches and wearables out there, this is perhaps the first time that a company has launched a smartwatch that’s purely meant for gamers. However, the watch itself does not pack any special features that would interest gamers barring the design and the exclusive watch faces.
